At Metalsin, we supply the AWWA C515 non-rising stem (NRS) gate valve with a top mounting flange, that allow for the secure attachment of either a post indicator or an adjustable extended stem assembly. These valves are widely used in underground water supply and fire protection services.
AWWA NRS gate valve with a post indicator (red coated) and a telescopic extended stem (blue coated), respectively.
The top mounting flange offers robust, precise alignment for post indicators or extended stems, ensuring that the valve’s mechanical motion accurately reflects its open or closed status. Its high-tolerance surface securely mounts the post indicator or extended stem using a symmetrical, precision-drilled bolt pattern that evenly distributes stress. By providing a level, stable surface at the top of the valve, the mounting flange ensures that the extended stem or post indicator is properly aligned with the valve stem. This alignment is crucial for accurately displaying the valve’s open or closed position and for allowing the operator to control the valve effectively without excavation (especially in buried installations).
AWWA C515 NRS gate valves with top mounting flanges: A – flanged ends; B – grooved ends; C – mechanical-joint (MJ) ends.
The AWWA C515 NRS gate valves may be furnished with various end connections including flanged ends, grooved ends, and mechanical joint ends. The dimensions of the flanged ends shall be furnished in accordance with ASME B16.1 Class 125, while the dimensions of the grooved ends shall be machined in accordance with AWWA C606 and that of the mechanical-joint ends shall be provided as per ANSI/AWWA C111/A21.11. Design pressures: 200 psi, 250 psi, 300 psi; Design temperatures: 0°C~80°C; Both interior & exterior surfaces shall be coated with epoxy powder in the color of RAL 3000 (for fire protection) or RAL 5005 (for water supply). A stem nut shall be fixed at the top of the stem to be operated by a T-shaped key.
