WRAS Approval, BS 6920 & Design Characteristics

SJZ Metalsin supplies BS 5150 WRAS approved gate valves with the product series number of MTS-RG358. “WRAS approved” stands for “Water Regulations Advisory Scheme approved.” It indicates that the cast iron gate valves have been tested and certified to comply with the requirements and standards set by the UK Water Regulations. This certification ensures that the valves meet specific quality, safety, and performance standards for use in water supply systems, helping to prevent contamination of the water supply and ensure public health and safety. When used under the conditions for which they are designated, non-metallic parts/ products of the BS 5150 gate valves in contact with potable water shall comply with BS 6920-1. The Part 1 of BS 6920 specifies requirements for the suitability of non-metallic materials and products, and also water fittings and components, pipes and materials used in coating, protection, lining, jointing, sealing and lubrication, for use in contact with either hot or cold water intended for human consumption, with regard to their effect on the quality of the water. These non-metallic parts of the cast iron gate valves include O rings, gaskets, packings, epoxy coatings, rubber seats, etc.

The MTS-RG358 WRAS approved gate valve has the following design features: (1) Flanged ends in accordance with BS 4504 3.2 or BS 1560 3.2; (2) Rising stem design provides visual indication of the valve’s position, allowing for easy monitoring and operation. (3) Resilient seat design: similar to the BS 5150 NRS resilient seated gate valve, both the interior and exterior of the ductile iron hollow gate are completely coated with EPDM rubber, which has excellent aging resistance, outstanding pressure deformation resistance, and the ability to prevent damage from organic substances, ozone, and ultraviolet radiation. (4) Both the valve body and bonnet are made from spheroidal graphite cast iron (ductile iron) in accordance with BS 2789 Grade 450/10.
