The Karian-Serpong Drinking Water Supply System in Banten is a flagship infrastructure project designed to deliver a reliable, high-capacity supply of clean water—approximately 4,600 liters per second—to around 1.84 million people in Greater Jakarta and its surrounding regions, thereby supporting Indonesia’s ambitious goal of achieving full urban clean water coverage by 2030. Financed through a public–private partnership backed by international institutions such as the IFC, ADB, and K-Exim, and implemented by PT Karian Water Service, the project integrates advanced water treatment technologies to ensure optimal water quality and operational efficiency.
Ductile iron resilient seated gate valves with non-rising stem (NRS) made to BS 5163, DN600 PN16, supplied to the water supply project in Banten, Indonesia.
Metalsin plays a critical role by supplying ductile iron resilient seated gate valves that are essential for maintaining the integrity and durability of the extensive water distribution network under demanding conditions. These valves feature the soft seated design in which the ductile iron disc is fully encapsulated and vulcanized by EPDM rubber. The EPDM rubber seat is firmly bonded to the disc and conforms closely to the seating surface of the valve body forming a zero-leakage seal. These gate valves are designed in accordance with BS 5163 conforming to EN 1074-1 and EN 1074-2 standards.
