SJZ Metalsin supplies the AWWA C515 resilient seated gate valves with non-rising stem design and flanged end connections. Furnished with ductile iron body and bonnet, these valves are widely used for water supply service. Featuring reduced-wall thickness for enhanced performance without compromising structural integrity, AWWA C515 gate valves are lighter for easier transportation and installation.
AWWA C515 gate valves features for its resilient seated design, in which the metallic wedge (gate) is fully encapsulated in vulcanized EPDM or NBR rubber. The encapsulated wedge is in direct contact with the seating surface of the valve passage and it does not require a groove at the bottom of the body chamber. This design is less prone to medium buildup, ensuring better flow characteristics of the full port design.
The resilient seated design of the AWWA C515 gate valve also offers several key advantages: it ensures tight sealing, minimizes leakage, and enables smooth operation with minimal torque. Additionally, the rubber material provides excellent corrosion resistance, making these valves suitable for diverse water conditions while requiring minimal maintenance due to their durable construction. The combination of a ductile iron body and resilient wedge ensures a long service life, even in demanding applications, and the low torque requirement contributes to energy savings during valve operation, particularly beneficial in large-diameter valves used in water distribution networks.
The non-rising stem design of the AWWA C515 gate valve is a notable feature that enhances its functionality and durability in water supply systems. In this design, the stem of the valve remains stationary during operation, while the gate moves vertically to control the flow of water. This non-rising stem design offers several advantages. Firstly, it allows for compact installation, making it suitable for applications with limited space. Additionally, the stationary stem reduces the risk of damage or interference, ensuring smooth operation even in challenging environments. Furthermore, the non-rising stem design simplifies maintenance procedures, as it eliminates the need for additional clearance above the valve for stem movement.
The AWWA C515 NRS resilient seated gate valve with flanged ends is designed to provide secure and leak-free connections in water supply systems. Flanged ends usually feature raised faces with bolt holes, allowing for easy alignment and attachment to piping systems using bolts and nuts. This design ensures a tight and reliable seal, minimizing the risk of leakage and ensuring efficient flow control. The flanged ends also facilitate quick installation and removal of the valve, making maintenance and repairs more convenient. The thickness and drilling dimensions of the body flange shall conform to ASME B16.1 Class 125, AWWA C207, or AWWA C110/A21.10. When modified by the purchaser, these dimensions may be furnished in accordance with other standards such as ASME B16.5 Class 150, EN1092-1 PN10/ PN16/ PN25, BS 4504, BS 10, etc.
