Recently, the National Water Company (NWC), represented by the Eastern Cluster, announced the commencement of 12 projects worth SAR 1.5 billion to strengthen the components of its system in the Eastern Province. NWC aims to increase service coverage and reduce environmental damage for the residents of 50 districts in Dammam city and the governorates of Al-Khobar, Al-Qatif, Al-Ahsa, and Hafr Al-Batin. The company began implementing its major projects in Dammam and the governorate of Al-Bayda, starting work on Phase II of the King Fahd Suburb Sanitary Drainage Network Project and related plans worth more than SAR 427 million. Under this project, NWC will extend the system networks to 357 kilometers and establish five wastewater lifting stations with a total capacity of 23,808 cubic meters per day to improve environmental services in the suburbs and Al Nada and Amana districts.

In Al-Khobar governorate, the company started implementing four projects, the most notable being two projects with a total cost of more than SAR 530 million for sanitation services. These will be implemented by laying main lines and feeder networks with a total length of more than 169 kilometers, constructing five sewage lifting stations, and upgrading five other lifting stations with a total capacity of 205,560 cubic meters per day to serve various districts.
